The aftermarket supplier provides the cross-reference list to match the OEM part number to the aftermarket part. The connector compatibility is critical, as the wrong connector will not mate. The frequency compatibility is also critical, as the frequency mismatch will cause the detection failure. The aftermarket sensors must match the original frequency within ±1 kHz. The step-by-step installation for the replacement sensor: 1) Locate the faulty sensor (use the diagnostic tool to identify). 2) Access the sensor (remove the bumper or the trim panel). 3) Disconnect the wiring harness connector. 4) Release the retaining clips and remove the sensor. 5) Clean the mounting hole. 6) If painting, paint the new sensor and allow to dry. 7) Insert the new sensor, press until it clicks. 8) Connect the wiring harness. 9) Reinstall the bumper or the trim. 10) Test the system by engaging reverse and checking the warnings. 11) If required, perform the coding or the calibration using the diagnostic tool.

The step-by-step installation for the retrofit kit: 1) Plan the sensor positions on the bumper (typically 4 sensors, spaced evenly). 2) If using the drill-in mounts, drill the holes; if using the surface-mount, clean the surface and apply the adhesive. 3) Mount the sensors, route the wiring harness through the vehicle's interior (under the carpets, along the trim). 4) Connect the harness to the control module. 5) Connect the control module to the power (fused), the reverse light, and the brake light (for front sensors). 6) Mount the buzzer or the display in the cabin. 7) Test the system by engaging reverse and checking the sensor detection. 8) Secure the wiring with the cable ties. The retrofit installation is more time-consuming but provides the full parking assistance. The aftermarket sensors offer the flexible and the cost-effective solutions for the parking assistance.
